Bridgewater Earns MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship
Bridgewater State captured its first MACAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship since 2015. The Bears won six individual events and the 4x400-meter relay, contributing to a 198.5 team score.
Bridgewater State claimed the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday afternoon at the championships hosted by Westfield State.

The Bears won six individual events and the 4x400-meter relay at Sunday’s meet, helping propel them to this year’s title. Senior Jamelah Foster picked up a pair of individual championships, winning the discus and hammer throws with marks of 37.00m and 39.79m, respectively. Abbi Peterson also picked up a first-place finish in a field event as she claimed the high jump title, clearing 1.60m.
BSU was just as strong on the track, winning four events. Nicole Major won the 800-meter race with a time of 2:26.70 with Alison McDonough and Meg McCullough winning the 100-meter hurdles (15.91) and 400-meter hurdles (1:11.56), respectively. The Bears’ 4x400-meter relay team of Lily Marra, Lindsey Golden, Mary Jok, and Ashley Schepis won their race with a time of 4:18.37.
Worcester State came away with wins in seven of the 20 events on Sunday with Abigail MacGregor contributing to three of them. Individually, MacGregor won the MASCAC Individual Championship in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, running them in 12.85 and 26.26, respectively. She was also part of the Lancers’ 4x100-meter relay that finished with a time of 49.30. Joining her for that race were Elena Pellegrini, Maureen Grady, and Bernice Mensah.
Mensah also won a pair of individual titles in field events. She placed first in both the long jump and triple jump with respective marks of 3.57m and 10.92m. Throwers Odelia Konadu and Riley Sanderson gave Worcester its last two individual champions. Konadu won the shotput with at throw of 12.09m, while Sanderson hurled the javelin 36.94m to take top prize.
Amy O’Sullivan won three of Westfield’s six individual titles, taking the 1500-meter, 5K, and 10K. She led the pack in the 1500 with a 4:57.12 finish and posted an 18:10.46 mark in the 5K. She finished the 10K in 37:46.44. While, O’Sullivan was handling the distance events, Moira McDonald was handling the sprints. She won the 400-meter dash with a 1:01.27 time. Mia McDonald gave the Owls another MASCAC crown as she won the steeplechase with a 12:26.88 finish and Mackenzie Connor secured the pole vault title with a mark of 2.75m.
