After winning the 60 meter hurdles title during the indoor season, Bridgewater State's Jayci Andrews took home the national title in the women's 100 meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday.
The 100 hurdles wasn't Andrews only event of the day. An hour later, she finished third in the 400 meter hurdles to grab another All-American honor. Joining her in the event was Westfield State's Lexi Popp who also earned All-American accolades with a fourth place finish.
Andrews broke her own school record in the event with a time of 13.66 seconds as she edged Favor Ezewuzie of Wheaton College (Ill.) by just under 2/10 of a second. Andrews eclipsed her previous school mark of 13.86 seconds set earlier this month at the NEICAAA Championships.
Andrews also earned All-American honors in the 400-meter hurdles as she placed third in the finals with a time of 1:00.39.
Andrews is the first student-athlete in Bridgewater State history to win multiple NCAA titles.
Popp will wrap up a stellar career at Westfield State as a two-time All-American when the USTFCCCA announces their award winners later this week.
Running today in lane 2, she was eighth coming off the turn into the home straight, and passed four competitors in the final 50 yards to win the fourth-place finish in a time of 1:01.08.
Emory (Ga.) University's Dilys Osei won a photo finish from Loras (Ia.) College's Bella Solis in a time of 58.98 seconds to win the national title.
Popp was making her third appearance at an NCAA Championship meet. She placed seventh in the nation in the 400 meters indoors in March, and improved her placing in the 400 hurdles from 18th at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships in La Crosse, Wisc.
