MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Weekly Report 4/19
After competing at the Jerry Gravel Invitational on Saturday, the Bridgewater State trio of Matthew Lighten, Corey Stalters and Chigozie Adigwe claim the MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field weekly awards.

Lighten captured top honors in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, and ran a leg on the Bears’ second-place 4x100-meter relay this past weekend at the Jerry Gravel Classis hosted by Westfield State University. Helped the Bears place second in the team standings at the meet. Broke his own school record in the 100 with a time of 10.47 seconds as he eclipsed his previous mark of 10.72 seconds set earlier this season at the UMD Corsair Classic. Also posted a time of 21.56 second in the 200, recorded a season-best time of 42.22 seconds in the 4x100. Currently ranks third in all of Division III in the 100 and 14th in the 200. He is also first in the East Region in both the 100 and 200. The Bears 4x100 relay is ranked second in the East Region. |
Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week |
Stalters captured top honors in the javelin this past weekend at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State University as he shattered the BSU school record with a distance of 62.56m (205’ 3”). Eclipsed the previous mark of 199 feet, six inches set by Joshua Moore in 2019. Also placed seventh in the shot put with a career-best distance of 12.42m (40’ 9”). Helped the Bears placed second in the team standings at the meet. Currently ranks fifth in all of Division III in the javelin and first in the East Region. |
Men's Outdoor Rookie of the Week |
Adigwe captured top honors in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles this past weekend at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State University. Posted a career-best time of 14.73 seconds in the 100 hurdles and recorded a time of 58.55 seconds in the 400 hurdles. Currently ranks 14th in all of Division III in the 110 hurdles and third in the East Region. He is also 11th in the East Region in the 400 hurdles. |
