Bridgewater State Men Win 2015 MASCAC/New England Alliance Indoor Track and Field Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Bridgewater State Bears men's team claim the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference and New England Alliance Indoor Track and Field Championship in Providence, Rhode Island at the Providence Career and Technical Academy hosted by Rhode Island College and UMass Dartmouth.
Bridgewater State finished with 195 points only 1.5 points ahead of runner-up Westfield State with 193.5 points. Worcester State and Fitchburg State closed out the MASCAC teams with 95.5 points and 91 points, respectively.
The Bears as a team were the top MASCAC finishers in 11 of the 20 events run at the Indoor Championships. Besides earning a medal, the top finisher in each event is also named as an All-Conference honoree. Andy Sukeforth finished first in the mile (4:22.54) and 3,000 meters (8:53.30). Teammate Josh Goehring took home double honors in the 600 meter run (1:22.12) and the 1,000 meter run (2:35.21). Brian Espinosa was in the top spot for the 200 meter dash (21.97) and on the field side, first for a conference record in the long jump (23' 4/31"/7.12 meters). Chris Perry, with a new conference best, Conor Murtagh and Chinedu Chukwu rounded out the top finishers in the triple jump (47' 2.93"/14.40 meters), 60 meter hurdles (8.04) and 60 meter dash (6.92).
Bridgewater State also claimed two relay crowns in the 4x200 (1:30.84) and a new conference record in the 4x400 (3:25.56).
For runner-up Westfield State, three Owls claimed All-Conference honors with a first place finish. Steve Sam claimed first in the weight throw (48' 10.61"/14.90 meters) while teammates Travon Godette was in the top spot in high jump (6' 8.31"/2.04 meters) and Zachary Delisle in the pole vault (14' 5.22"/4.40 meters).
