Five Student-Athletes Earn NEHWA DII-DIII All-Stars
Five student-athletes from the MASCAC were recently named New England Hockey Writers Association (NEHWA) DII-DIII All-Stars.
Five student-athletes from the MASCAC were recently named New England Hockey Writers Association (NEHWA) DII-DIII All-Stars.
Plymouth State's Kalle Andersson (Taby, Sweden), Connor Tait (Boyds, Md.) and Rider McCallum (Langley, British Columbia) and Will Redick (Collingwood, Ontario) and UMass Dartmouth's Michael Perrone (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) were all named New England Division II-III All-Stars.
Redick, an AHCA First Team All-American and Second Team All-USCHO selection, led the nation in goals and points and was second in assists. The MASCAC Player of the Year and All-MASCAC First Team selection was also tied for the most power play goals (11) in the country.
Andersson went 21-3-1 between the pipes to post the second-highest winning percentage (.860) in the country. He ranked 14th in the nation in goals against average (1.84) and was 22nd with a .932 save percentage, claiming All-MASCAC First Team honors.
Tait ranked tenth in the nation with 1.31 points per game, finishing the season with 18 goals, 20 assists and 38 points. He tied for the team lead with four game-winning goals, a mark that was tied for 12th most in all of Division III. He recorded a point in 25-of-29 games played to earn All-MASCAC First Team recognition.
McCallum was the one of the top-scoring defensemen in the country. His 21 assists were tied for third among blue liners, while his 25 points were tied for fourth-most in the nation. McCallum finished with a +19 rating and was second on the team with 24 blocked shots to garner an All-MASCAC First Team nod.
Perrone, a grad student left winger and captain, played in all 27 games for the Corsairs this season. He finished second overall with 34 points on 15 goals and a team-best 19 assists. In addition to 102 shots, he was a +13, adding two power play goals with four game-winning markers. Amongst the conference's best, Perrone ranked fourth in points and fifth in assists, while sitting sixth overall in goals. He also ranked second in game-winning goals. Nationally, Perrone was 12th in game-winning goals and 16th in points per game.
