Gover of MCLA Earns MASCAC Men’s Golf Player of the Year, Headlines 2023 All-Conference Team

Westfield, Mass. — Freshman Mat Gover of MCLA earned 2023 MASCAC Men’s Golf Player of the Year honors after finishing as the top overall finisher at the conference championship on Sunday, October 1. His performance also headlines this year’s All-Conference team.
Gover, a freshman from Atkinson, N.H., earned individual medalist honors, shooting a 76 on day two to go with a 71 (-1) on day one for a +3 (147) for the two day tournament. In the first round of play, he finished with three birdies while collecting two during the second round to help clinch the MASCAC individual title. His efforts not only gave him Player of the Year honors but also MASCAC Rookie of the Year accolades as the top first time performer in the conference. The Trailblazers had their highest team showing ever with a runner-up finish in the team standings.
After leading the Pride to their first MASCAC Men’s Golf Championship since joining the MASCAC in 2019, Joe Eadie of Springfield College was named the BSN Sports Coach of the Year as voted on by his peers.
Joining Gover on the 2023 All-Conference First Team is Amir Adonlino, Nick DeMaio and David Girouard of Springfield and Ethan Doyle of Salem State.
On the Second Team are Alex Ferris of MCLA, Danny DiLisio and Henry Stonehouse of Salem State, Justin Acquarulo of Springfield and Jon Gastonguay of Worcester State.
