Worcester State's Nkrumah, Bridgewater State's Halbleib Earn Men's Basketball Postseason Honors

After earning MASCAC All-Conference accolades last month, Worcester State's Aaron Nkrumah and Bridgewater State's Emerson Halbleib were named to the d3hoops.com All-Region 1 team.
Nkrumah was named the d3hoops.com Region 1 Rookie of the Year and to the first team. He also earned National Association of Basketball Coaches First Team All-Region 1 honors. Halbleib grabbed on a spot on the d3hoops.com All-Region Second Team.
Nkrumah, a sophomore from Worcester, Mass. earned the 2022-23 MASCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year after finishing at the top of the conference in several categories and helping the Lancers to a perfect MASCAC record of 12-0. He closed out the regular season first in total points with 431 and steals with 66, third in points per game at 17.2 and seventh in blocks with 22. He also averaged 7.8 rebounds per game with a total of 195, a 43.1 field goal percentage and 53 assists on the year. In the win over Bridgewater State, he had a season-best 30 points with 11 rebounds and three steals. Nkrumah helped to lead the Worcester State men’s basketball team to their first MASCAC championship in 29 years.
In 26 games this season, Halbleib averaged 14.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.6 blocks. He also shot 68.2% (152-223) from the floor, 37.5% (9-24) from behind the arc and 72.3% (68-94) at the free throw line. He set the Bears' single-season records for blocked shots and field goal percentage.
