North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's
basketball team earned their first ever ECAC New England regional
championship bid after a 16-9 regular season. The Trailblazers will
be the 7th seed and will travel to 2nd seeded Anna Maria College on
Wednesday at 7pm. Eastern Connecticut State is the top seed
in the New England region.
MCLA finished with their best regular season since 1999 culminating
with a
second place finish in the MASCAC. After a first round bye in
the conference tournament, MCLA fell to eventual league champion
Bridgewater State 88-80.
The Trailblazers are under the direction of 4th year head coach
Jamie Morrison. Morrison has steadily improved the
Trailblazers who are just two seasons removed from a 1-24 season.
Morrison's team will have a different look in the postseason
as first team All MASCAC selection Jon Greenberg will be inactive.
Leading the way for MCLA will be senior guard Brendan
Kordana. Kordana, who has started all season long, netted a
season high 24 points in the semifinal loss to Bridgewater
State.
Joining Kordana will be juniors Jamal Brown and Chris Harris.
Both average in double figures, while Brown will assume an
expanded role off the glass. Harris was a second team All
MASCAC selection the last two seasons.
The winner will advance to face
either 3rd seeded Keene State or 6th seeded Brandeis on Saturday at
a site to be determined.
