Eight MASCAC Student-Athletes Earn ABCA DIII All-Region Honors

Scott Emerson, Matt Josselyn and Jay Wladkowski of Bridgewater State, Vincent Eramo and Connor Morehouse of Fitchburg State, Ryan Boyle of Framingham State, Zach Piroh of Salem State and Nick Martin of Westfield State earned a spot on the All-Region squad. Boyle and Josselyn were on the first team, Morehouse on the second team and Emerson, Eramo, Martin, Piroh and Wladkowski landed on third team.
Josselyn went 7-2 in 2022 with five complete games and four shutouts in 12 appearances on the mound including 11 starts. The Hanson, Massachusetts product produced a 1.77 earned run average and fanned 69 batters over 71 1/3 innings of work, while opponents batted just .193 against him. Josselyn, who also sported an impressive 0.81 WHIP (walks & hits per innings pitched), fashioned together a BSU record 40 1/3 scoreless inning streak during the season. Josselyn led the MASCAC in strikeouts, shutouts, WHIP, strikeout to walk ratio (6.90) and walks per nine innings pitched (1.26). He is also tied for the conference lead in games started, tied for second in wins and innings pitched, ranked second in hits allowed per nine innings (6.06) and third in ERA.
Wladkowski batted .391 (66-169) with a home run, 16 doubles, 21 stolen bases, 21 walks, 46 runs scored, and 46 RBI over 45 games. The Norwood, Massachusetts product led the MASCAC in hits, runs batted in, at bats, doubles and games played. He also ranked second in runs, third in batting average and stolen bases, fourth in total bases (87), fifth in on base percentage (.458), sixth in walks and tenth in slugging percentage (.515).
Emerson batted .353 (59-167) in 45 games during his rookie campaign with eight doubles, a triple, 19 walks, 31 stolen bases, 45 runs scored and 32 RBI. The Peabody, Massachusetts native led the MASCAC in stolen bases and equaled Wladkowski for the conference lead in games played. Emerson also ranked second among the MASCAC leaders in hits and at bats, third in runs, seventh in total bases (69), and tied for seventh in runs batted in, walks and sacrifice flies (3).
Morehouse earned a second-team All-New England slot at the utility position. Earlier this month Morehouse was selected to the MASCAC All-Conference First Team. In his first season as a Falcon, Morehouse had a .356 batting average, including 16 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 37 runs scored, 28 RBI, six walks, and six stolen bases.
Eramo was named to the third team All-New England as a catcher. Eramo finished his Falcon career with a stellar senior season, leading the team in several offensive categories including batting average (.400), hits (56), home runs (7), OBP (.437), SLG (.636.) and RBIs (34). Eramo also has a pair of MASCAC All-Conference selections.
Boyle, who saw time this season as the designated hitter and in the outfield, was previously a first team All-MASCAC selection. Boyle finished the season .382 at the plate for the Rms seeing action in 37 games with 131 at bats. Boyle collected 50 hits including seven doubles, three triples and six home runs while driving in 26 runs. Boyle's .382 average ranked third in the MASCAC, while he was tied for fifth in home runs. His OBP of .438 and slugging percentage of .618 also ranked among the conference leaders.
Piroh earns his second straight All-Region honors after landing on second team in 2021. He led the conference with nine home runs while batting .347. His 92 total bases topped the MASCAC and he finished third with 36 RBI and fifth in hits with 52. Piroh's 11 doubles and .613 slugging percentage were sixth best in the league.
Martin started all 40 games in the leadoff spot for the Owls, setting the single-season school record for runs scored with 52. The senior outfielder led the Owls in total bases (89), hits (54), extra base hits (20), walks (25) and stolen bases (14). He also tied the team lead with 34 RBI and was top four in the MASCAC in home runs with seven. His .351/.446/.578 slash line were all top three on the team in each category. Martin finished the season with one of his most memorable performances of the year, registering four hits and five RBI in a MASCAC tournament game against Salem State.
The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 13,000 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.
