After finishing in the top five of their respective events in the East Region, nine student-athletes from around the MASCAC earned U.S. Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region’s top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West – match those used during the indoor season as well as the cross country season.
On the women's side, BSU graduate student Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) earned All-East Region honors in the 60-meter hurdles, long jump and 60-meter dash, while classmate Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) garnered all-region accolades in the 60 and 200-meter dash, and senior Serenity Sands (East Bridgewater, Mass.) picked up the award in the high jump.
McDonough was the top ranked 60-meter hurdler (8.77) in the East Region and finished the season second in the 60 (7.75) and fourth in the long jump (17’9.75”/5.43m). Escalera ranked second in the 200 (25.29) and third in the 60 (7.76), while Sands was the top ranked high jumper (5'7.25"/1.71m). Sands would increase her mark with a school record and All-American leap of five feet, 8.5 inches (1.74m) this past weekend at the NCAA Division III Championships.
Graduate student Corey Stalters (Norton, Mass.) and senior Thomas Barinelli (Tewksbury, Mass.) are the two representatives from the BSU men’s squad to garner USTFCCCA All-East Region status. Stalters ranked third in the region in the shot put (52'2"/15.90m) while Barinelli finished fourth in the long jump (22'11.75"/7.00m).
