Lancers Split with Regional Ranked Anchorman

Worcester, MA- After two quick wins yesterday on a blustery day, the Worcester State Softball team (19-12, 7-3) returned to the home diamond to host Rhode Island College (25-5, 8-2) in a rescheduled weather move from earlier this month. The Anchormen come into the game regionally ranked but also having dropped the last two games before coming into this matchup with the Lancers.

Lancers Claim Fifth Behind Hurley at Rich Korzec Memorial Invitational

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Golf team continued their spring action after a shortened tournament a few weeks ago put a damper on their spring season by hosting the 2024 Rich Korzec Memorial in honor of the legendary Worcester State Golf Coach. Present today were former players as coaches with their teams to play and honor his lasting legacy at Worcester State.

Lancers Allow Just Single Run in Sweep of Lasers in Pink Out Game

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Softball team (17-12, 7-3) would return to action after a dominant sweep of Bridgewater State on Sunday, to take on the Lasell Lasers (19-14, 11-3) in a midweek non conference battle. Today’s game was also being played in support of the Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund created by Gregg '86 and Pam '87 Rosen, aims to provide a robust curriculum that supports peer to peer education regarding early cancer detection. Raising Awareness in our young people, particularly Worcester State students in the field of public health, can effectively expedite these important educational initiatives to curb the prevalence of late-stage cancer and increase longevity.

Lancers Downed by Nationally Ranked Foe Seahawks

Worcester, MA- After a thrilling sweep yesterday over conference foes Fitchburg State, the Lancer Baseball team (8-20, 7-8) returned to action this afternoon to take on nationally ranked Salve Regina in a mid week, out-of-conference, battle. While attempting to rest themselves up for the remainder of the conference regular season, Worcester State looked to test themselves against some tough competition.

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lacrosse team (8-7, 3-1) square up with conference leaders Framingham State (11-3, 4-0) this evening in a pivotal postseason seeding battle. The winner of this game looks to get the bye into the semifinals and potential hosting rights through the tournament.

Hernandez Slams Falcons in Sweep for Series Victory

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Baseball team (6-20, 5-8) jumps right back into action this afternoon as they complete their series versus the Fitchburg State Falcons (10-20, 5-8). The Falcons grabbed the opening win on Patriot’s Day but the Lancers looked to take the series in their double game battle on a sunny afternoon at Kevin D. Lyons Diamond.

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Rookie of the Week hot streak continue for the Women’s Track and Field team with a new honoree into the mix this week. First year Lauren Condike (East Longmeadow, MA) claimed this week’s spot after a strong dual performance at the Bonnie Edmondson Classic this past weekend.

Women's Athletics Shines with Championships, Individual Success and Academic Excellence

Coming off the 50th anniversary of Division III College Athletics and Title IX, Worcester State University’s Women’s Athletics programs have made tremendous strides to level the playing field for treatment, recognition, and resources for female athletes. The drive and ability to win is infectious across Lancer women’s athletics with teams and individuals consistently winning championships and making NCAA tournament appearances, all while succeeding in the classroom. Thanks to trailblazers worldwide who fight for equal treatment and the persistent dedication of players and coaches, female athletes are being promoted and recognized for their accomplishments more than ever. Karen Tessmer, associate athletic director and women’s basketball head coach, says that it is important to keep fighting for the recognition of women in sports, as it is easy for them to be overshadowed by male athletes.

Bartlett and Maloney Receive MASCAC Weekly Honors

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Softball team kept the MASCAC Honors streak going this week as they again were recognized for their strength of play this week. Senior Emily Bartlett (Lowell, MA) was picked for the 4th time as MASCAC Pitcher of the Week, while first year Peyton Maloney (West Boylston, MA) received her first MASCAC honor of the season, being named Rookie of the Week.

Fisher Named MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lacrosse team has again been selected with a conference weekly honor. Sophomore Mckayla Fisher (Peabody, MA), last year’s dominant Rookie of the Week recipient nabbed her first weekly honor this season being named the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week.
