How it Happened:

The start of the first inning saw Worcester State up to bat first as junior Emma Lanpher (Charlton, MA) sent a line drive to the out field finding her safe at second. After a fumble of the Fighting Scot's catcher first year Samantha Perkins (Tewksbury, MA), Lanpher gets to 3rd base with a steal. After pitcher first year Morgan Passolo (Plainview, NY) walked another Lancer, senior Sierra Ricci (Greene, RI) would take her place on the mound. Junior Abigail Koziol (Lunenburg, MA) with a ground ball to the shortstop would let Lanpher cross home plate for what would end up being the only run of the game.

Bartlett would go the full seven innings in the right win striking out 10 batters walking one and allowing just three hits.

The second game would see first year Peyton Maloney (West Boylston, MA) lead off in the mound for Worcester. The Fighting Scots first year Morgan Passolo (Plainview, NY) would send a fly ball to the outfield but it was determined to be an illegal pitch so Passolo would stay on first. Passolo would

Continue to creep around the bases during at bats. Junior Isabella Rivera hits a grounder down the third base line, sending Passolo home for the first run of game two.

The bottom of the second would see Gordon adding to their tally with five runs before Worcester would begin to respond in the third. First year Cali Brouillard (Millbury, MA) would send a grounder down the field, followed by sophomore Bailey Tammaro (Fitchburg, MA) with a hit to the outfield two out two runners on. A bunt from Lanpher and a fumble from Gorden at first sends Brouillard home for their first run. Another bunt from Worcester would send Tammaro home for another run. The score would now sit at 6-2 with no outs and runners on both first and third. Sophomore Morgan Keefe (Dracut, MA) with a grounder leading to another Worcester run and seeing the score sit at 6-3.

Worcester would settle into a defensive rhythm shutting down Gordon's attack but were unable to build up momentum of their own. Gordon would extend their lead in the sixth by adding two runs to jump to an 8-3 lead. Worcester would attempt to fight back in the seventh but Gordon's defense would hold them off for a split.
