Women's Soccer Shuts Out Framingham State

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College shutout Framingham State in a non-conference women's soccer game, winning 5-0 Wednesday afternoon at Walter M. Katz Field.

Curry took the lead in the 11th minute of play when Maddie Resendes (Coventry, R.I.) found her sister, Sydney Resendes (Coventry, R.I.) who scored her second goal of the season to give the home team a 1-0 advantage. The twins would score again only nine minutes later when Maddie connected with Sydney for the second time to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead.

Curry scored again with 27:17 on the clock; this time the pass came from Sydney Resnedes, who found Jovi Goldstein (Bristol, R.I.) to give the Colonels a 3-0 lead.

The home team would score two more times in the second half, the first coming when Mia Schena (Nahant, Mass.) scored off a pass from Shannon Folan (Hudson, Mass.) with 58:50 remaining on the clock. The Colonels' second goal was unassisted and scored by Goldstein in the 81st minute of play for her second goal of the game and season.

Hannah Correa (Carver, Mass.) and Lexi Smardon (Scotland, Conn.) split time in net for the Colonels, with Correa picking up the win. Jetta Oskirko made nine saves in net for the Rams.

Curry College (1-1-1) returns to action on Friday (9/8) with a road matchup against Mass.-Dartmouth beginning at 7 p.m.
