Maritime (5-7, 2-3) in the Buccaneers final game of the 2024 season. The Lancers will be looking to add another win to their column to jump back above .500 and begin to solidify their conference postseason standing.

Final:

Mass. Maritime: 12

Worcester State: 21

How it Happened:

The Lancers jumped out to a quick three nothing lead off the scoring action of sophomore Mckayla Fisher (Peabody, MA), who recorded her 100th draw control in Worcester's last game, scored the opening goal and assisted the second to fellow sophomore Molly Witkowski (Greenville, NY), while graduate student Shea Jarvis (Auburn, MA) would send a pass from her pocket to junior Abigail Wing's (Griswold, CT) for goal number three half way through the first. The Buccaneers would answer with a goal of their own to break up the first quarter scoring action as Fisher would continue to light up the first with another assist, this time to first year Madigan Kelley (Bourne, MA), who was playing close to home today before Fisher claimed her second goal of the game. The Buccaneers would answer back with a 1:12 left in the first period as Cassie Llewellyn (Fairfield, CT) would shoot one in the Lancers net. It wouldn't be too long after the goal from the Buccaneers as the Lancers would answer back with two goals to finish off the period as Wing would laser one in for a shot then with 38 seconds left after her teammates goal, another from Fisher, would complete a hat trick to finish the first period.

The change of quarter would not result in a slow down for Worcester as Jarvis would get things rolling for the Lancers to increase their lead and nab her second goal of the evening. The Buccaneers would answer right back in this matchup as Llewellyn would secure her second goal of the day. The offense would keep rolling for the Buccaneers as midfielder Lindsey Durgin (Rochester, MA) would answer with a goal in the second but would not take too long for the Lancers to answer back as midfielder Shannon Donahue (Dennis, MA), another cape area local,  would pick up the momentum for the offense. Soon after the goal from Worcester State, the Buccaneers would answer right back as Llewellyn would add yet another goal to her resume for this matchup against the Lancers. Things would start to pick up for Worcester as the Buccaneers would receive a penalty and provide the Lancers a chance to score off of a penalty, and used that to their advantage as Wing would score off of a free position shot increasing the lead for the Lancers. The offense would continue to gain momentum for Worcester in this second period as Wing would score yet again this time assisted by Kelly. Moments after the goal from the Lancers, the Buccaneers would be docked with yet another penalty allowing the Lancers to answer with a goal by Witkowski. The Buccaneers would try to gain momentum to finish off the quarter, and doing so Allie Dickerson (Kingston, MA) would rip one in the Lancers net to try and get things going again for the offense. Not as much would happen in the rest of this second for Worcester but the Buccaneers would add two more goals to finish the final quarter before the half by Llewellyn as her goals would rack up in this matchup against the Lancers.

The Lancers offense would get things rolling in the early parts of the third period as Hannah Erickson (Dunstable, MA) would shoot one right through the Buccaneers defense to extend the lead. It would not be long until the Buccaneers would answer back as Allie Dickinson (Kingston, MA) shot one on in the net assisted by Llewellyn. Soon after Dickinson's goal, she would score yet another one goal for Mass. Maritime made this a 4 point game against the Lancers in the third period. Things would continue to roll for the Buccaneers offense as Sarah Narr (Milton, DE) would shoot one in unassisted on the Lancers net to make this even a closer game. Worcester would fight back and answer with a goal by Wing assisted by Hannah Erickson (Dunstable, MA) to continue the lead. It would not take too long after Wing's goal that her teammate Ashley Hurley (Feeding Hills, MA) would increase the lead for the Lancers making it a 16-11 game. With a 1:10 left in the third period, Shannon Donahue (Dennis, MA) of Worcester State would add another goal on the board and soon after with 6 seconds left to close out the third period Molly Witkowski (Greenville, NY) would score an unassisted goal to finish off the period.

It would not take too long in the fourth for things to get going again  for the Lancers offense as Jarvis would get things going and extend the lead for Worcester. As time would continue to roll in the last period of this matchup, Sarah Narr (Milton, DE) would add another goal to the Buccaneers side assisted by her teammate Allie Dickinson (Kingston, MA). With 6:10 left in the final period, sophomore Abigail Vincent (Lakeville, MA) would score with assistance from Witkowski. Soon after a goal by Vincent, Witkowski would secure a goal of her own with about 4 minutes left in this matchup and would be the final goal of the evening as Worcester would claim the 21-12 win.

Junior Olivia LaValle (Peabody, MA) and first year Jordyn Bolduc (Auburn, MA) would each split time in net with 30 minutes and four saves a piece. Wing would take the goal scoring cap on the day with five in the game.
