Zoe Athanasopoulos continued her goal dominance by starting off the scoring finding the back of the net in the sixth minute to lift the Lancers to an early 1-0 start.

Southern Maine was not fazed by the Lancer early goal as they countered with a goal from Abigail Chartier just two minutes later.

Chartier was not finished as she  followed her goal with another, two minutes later, to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.

Worcester had five penalty corners in the first half compared to the Huskies one. They were outshot 8-6.

Athanasopoulos was shown yellow early in the first half, which showed the hustle for both teams on the turf.

The second half was a defensive battle. Grace Adams was able to penetrate the Huskies defense in the 41st minute with a massive equalizer to balance the game at 2-2.

Senior goalie Sam Gastonguay (Ashburnham, Mass.) swung the momentum of the game as she had an amazing save on a breakaway from the Huskies to keep the game tied. Gastonguay had five saves on the night off of seven shots from Southern Maine.

The game remained tied in regulation 2-2 as no team was able to pull away in sixty minutes.

It did not take long, just seconds into the overtime period, but the reigning MASCAC offensive player of the week ripped a shot with decent yardage to finish off the Huskies and give the Lancers a winning streak heading into their next game. Sophomore midfielder Charlotte MacGregor (Bellingham, Mass.) had the assist on the play off the set piece corner of a perfect insert by first year Megan Goodwin (Keene, NH).

With the win, the Lancers improve to (6-5, 4-0), while the Huskies drop to (7-7, 0-1) on the season.
