Worcester State Falls to Corsairs on Stormy Afternoon

Worcester, MA- The Lancers football team hit the road for a MASCAC conference affair with UMass-Dartmouth. The Lancers are coming off their first win of the season when they beat Fitchburg 33-13 last Saturday. The Lancers look to even the record at .500, and improve to 2-0 in conference play when they battle the Corsairs in Dartmouth.

Sophomore Quarterback Cameron Ayotte (Millbury, MA) made his first collegiate start against the Corsairs. The Lancers and Corsairs battled through tough weather conditions in the forms of wind and rain as the remnants of the weekend's Hurricane showered down on them. Dartmouth got off to an early lead and never relinquished it as they controlled the entirety of the game. The Lancers were led offensively by running back Nico Holmes (Mansfield,MA) with 57 yards on the ground. Safety junior Jamison Metcalf (Leicester, MA) led the defense with 9 tackles. 



The Blue and Gold, who now sit at (1-3, 1-1) enter their bye week next weekend looking to regroup and finish the second half of the season strong. The Lancers return home for a Friday night lights matchup with Bridgewater State at 7pm on October 6th.  UMass-Dartmouth now sits at (4-0, 2-0) on the season.
