Lancers Fall in back-and-forth Five

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women's Volleyball team battled it deep the match Friday night in a tough loss against Colby-Sawyer. The match went back-and-forth at the Shapiro Gymnasium with Worcester State taking the first and third sets before falling in the deciding fifth set.

Worcester State took a commanding lead in the matchup, winning the first set 25-15. Colby returned the favor in the second set with a 25-16 finish to bring the sets to one a piece. The Lancers answered the challenge and closed out the third with a mirror score of 25-16 in their favor before Colby snuck past 25-18 in the fourth set, forcing the fifth and final set, claiming the win with a 15-6 finish.

Cassandra Millea and Cassidy D'Esposito led the team with eight kills a piece on the night, while Angelo Colonis was dominant on the serving line, with five service aces. Camryn Burgio was all over the court all night, leading both teams with 28 digs and 27 total attacks.

The Lancers are back in action tomorrow to close out the Brandeis Invitational. First up is Roger Williams at 11am and then a 1pm meeting with the hosts.
