Bridgewater, MA - The Curry softball team split their doubleheader with Bridgewater State on Tuesday, falling in game one before winning game two. The Colonels are now 15-17 on the season, while the Bears are now 16-16.

Game One

Bridgewater State got out to the early lead in game one, scoring three in the first and one in the second to go up 4-0. The Colonels would get a run back in the third on a Jordan Ferullo RBI single, but the Bears would respond with two more in the fourth to go up 6-1. The Colonels would begin to stage their comeback in the sixth. They scored three runs, the first on an error, the second on a walk, and the third on a Karlie Pontes RBI single. Trailing 6-4 in the seventh, the Colonels would explode for four more runs. Jillian Rogers had an RBI double, while Morgan Barmash, Natalia O'Kleasky, and Sam King each had RBI singles to put the Colonels up 8-6. But the Bears would answer with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to send the game to extra innings. They would then go on to score in the bottom of the 8th to win 9-8.

The Colonels had 10 hits, with Jordan Ferullo and Renee Gonneville each recording two. Eight of the nine starters for Curry had a hit, while all nine reached base at least once. Morgan Barmash started, and got the loss after returning to the mound later in the game. She went five total innings, allowing seven hits and nine runs, but only three were earned. Caitlyn Wood pitched two scoreledd innings in relief.

After the Bears closed to 7-4 with runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth, Taylor McDermott gave the Colonels an insurance run with a homer to left field in the seventh. The Colonels would then add two more on an error, ultimately taking the game 10-4.
