Westfield State University men's soccer was bested 4-0 in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, September 7th against the University of New England Golden Bears.

The Bears (3-1) struck the first goal two minutes into the game.

Carlson Rose (Amherst, Mass) got the Bears on the board first, just 2:30 into the contest, knocking in the loose ball as the Owls were unable to clear the ball off of a cross.  Westfield's header went right to the foot of rose at the top of the box.

Matt Spruill (Enfield, Conn), Malik Serriser (Ludlow, Mass), and Roger Leland (Brimfield, Mass) each contributed a goal for the Golden Bears.

Jacob Wadas (Ludlow) made six saves in goal to earn the shutout for the Golden Bears.

Westfield State goalkeeper Drew Adams (North Attleboro, Mass.)  totaled 5 saves.

The Owls totaled 11 shots with scoring opportunities from Matthew Allen (Southwick, Mass) and John Riordan (Ludlow, Mass).

The Owls fall to 0-2-1 this year, with their next match on Friday, September 9th, when they travel to Troy, New York where they will compete against the Russell Sage College Gators.
