Keene, NH. – The Fitchburg State University field hockey team was clipped 5-2 by the Owls of Keene State in a Little East Conference contest on Tuesday evening at the Owl Athletic Complex.

How It Happened

Junior Maggie Cahoon (Keene, NH) and freshman Molly Murray (Gorham, Maine) each potted a pair of goals to lead the Owls to the win. Just six minutes in Cahoon connected on a pass from Lauren Hausser (Metuchen, NJ) for her fifth goal of the season.  Murray doubled the lead just before the end of the first frame witha  goal on a penalty stroke.

Each player added goals in the third quarter to push the lead to 5-0, including another stroke conversion for Murray.

Falcons' Emily Iacovelli (Northbridge, Mass.) broke up the shutout in the fourth quarter. The senior collected a loose ball just inside the top of the circle and spun around a shot inside the left corner for her fifth tally of the season.

Newcomer Isabella Buccheri (Salem, NH) notched her first collegiate assist with just under three minutes reamaining. Buccheri corralled a rebound off the pads of the Keene State goaltender and tucked the ball towards the net, where Alexix Raymond (Tewksbury, Mass.) tapped in her third goal of the season for the 5-2 final.

Inside the Numbers

  • Keene State held the advantage in shots (17-3) and corners (26-5).
  • FSU freshman Jenna Morse (Leominster, Mass.) made eight saves in 37 minutes, while sophomore Cheyenne Dunn (Holyoke, Mass) had one save in relief for the Falcons.
  • Sophomore Molly Edmark (Plymouth, NH) had one save for the win.
