Westfield State senior starting pitched Patrick Jordan (Reading, Mass.) cruised through six frames in a 6-2 game-two win to complete the sweep of Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Saturday afternoon at Hagan Field at Westfield State University.

The Owls got an extra-innings, walk-off win by a 9-8 score in the opener.

Westfield improves to 11-1 on the season, while Mass Maritime slips to 0-4.

Jordan, a transfer from UMaine, kept the Buccaneer bats quiet, tossing six innings while allowing two runs on two hits while walking four and fanning six.

The Owls used a three-run fifth inning to separate from the Buccaneers. Steve Saucier (Auburn, Mass.) drove in a run on an RBI double to left-centerfield, and Sean Moorhouse (Westfield, Mass.) delivered a two-out, 2 RBI single to right field to distance the Owls.

Ethan Day recorded two hits and a RBI while Casey Boudreau (Shrewsbury, Mass.) recorded an RBI double. Brett Velzis continued to impress in game two with an RBI triple. Zach Sylvia (Brockton, Mass.) also recorded a double.

In game one, the Owls trailed three separate times, and trailed 6-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. Ethan Day (Meriden, Conn.) led off the inning with a solo home run to cut the deficit to three runs. In the next inning, the Owls put together a string of quality at bats and plated four runs to take the lead 7-6.

The Buccaneers came up with a late rally of their own in the seventh inning as Dylan Sullo (Acushnet, Mass.) ripped a ball into the left-centerfield gap, scoring two runs and taking the lead 8-7. However, in the bottom half of the frame, the Owls would once again rebound on a Brett Dooley (Cohasset, Mass.) two-out RBI single to right field to tie the game and force the extra inning.

In the bottom half of the eighth inning, Bryant Dana (Lynnfield, Mass.) drove in the game-winning RBI on a fielder's choice to end game one.

For MMA, first-year Brett Velzis (Cypress, Tex.) went 2-4 with a double, triple, and 2 RBI, while second baseman Sullo hit 2 doubles while also recording 2 RBI.

Nate Langmeier (East Granby, Mass.) (4-0) recorded the victory in relief for the Owls, while John Teehan (Boston, Mass.) (0-2) took the loss

Westfield State's next game will be at Hagan Field against Worcester State on Friday afternoon in a conference doubleheader at 1:00 P.M.  Mass. Maritime (0-4) will return home to face Fitchburg State on Saturday.
