Panthers Skate Past Ice Hockey in Conference Action

PLYMOUTH, NH: Fitchburg State ice hockey fell to the Panthers of Plymouth State this evening in conference action.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 2/8/24

- Score: Plymouth 7, Fitchburg 2

- Records: Plymouth (18-2-2, 15-1-2 MASCAC), Fitchburg (11-9-2, 10-6-2 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Panthers took the lead early and continued to build on it throughout the contest. Their best period was the second, when they scored three goals. Will Redick and Patrick O'Connell topped Plymouth this evening, with both scoring two goals. O'Connell also contributed two assists.

- The Falcons scored their first goal to close out the first period off the stick of Samuel Rennick (Salisbury, MA). They would strike again, closing out the second period on a power play goal by Michael Imala (Oak Lawn, IL).

- Frederick Soderberg (Harrison Township, MI) (L, 5-5) was tagged with the loss after allowing five goals while making 23 saves. Kalle Anderson (W, 15-2-1) got the win after making 28 saves with just the two goals allowed.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: Plymouth 58, Fitchburg 30

-  Penalties: Plymouth had 25 minutes on 7 infractions. Fitchburg had 16 minutes on 8 infractions.

-  Power Play: Plymouth was 2-for-6. Fitchburg was 1-for-5.
