FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — Freshman forward Demi Miskiv (Centerville, Mass.) scored two goals including the game winner in overtime to lift the Framingham State University field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over the Bridgewater State University Bears in a Little East Conference (LEC) showdown at Maple Street Field. 

The win snaps a three game losing streak for the Rams as they improve to 5-9 on the season and 3-6 in conference.  With the loss, the Bears are now 8-5 overall and 7-2 in the Little East which places them in a tie for second place with Plymouth State.               

Bridgewater State controlled the pace of play in the first half as they outshot the Rams 13-1 in the frame and held a 10-1 advantage in corners.  In the 16th minute the Bears fired multiple shots on the cage that Framingham State goalie Allesha Kenyon (Westford, Mass.) kept turning, however the Bears were awarded a penalty stroke after the flurry.  Sophomore Shelby Farland (Fiskdale, Mass.) beat Kenyon with a shot to the top right corner giving the Bears a 1-0 lead at 16:01 of the first.

The Bears extended their lead just six minutes later as junior Breanna Clement (Pittsfield, Mass.) broke past the Rams defense drawing Kenyon off her line.  Clement flipped the ball to senior Bethany Bush (Littleton, Mass.) who redirected it into the back of the cage for her team-leading 15th goal of the season. With the goal, Bush now has 101 points in her career eclipsing the century milestone.  She also extended her season-long point scoring streak to 12 games.

Kenyon kept the Rams in the game making seven saves in the first half to keep the score 2-0 in favor of Bridgewater at the break.   

The Rams offense came alive in the second half as it took FSU just over three minutes to cut the Bears lead in half.  Senior Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, Mass.) converted a penalty stroke at 38:12 for her first goal of the season making the score 2-1.

Framingham State, who outshot the Bears 8-3 in the second half, tied the game in the 54th minute as Miskiv scored her first of the game off an assist from senior Kristen Sacco (Mendon, Mass.).  The game would remain tied as neither team was able to convert their scoring chances down the stretch.

In overtime, the Bears had the first opportunity to break the deadlock, but Kenyon turned aside Bush's offering.  The Rams regained possession and Sacco moved the ball down the field to Miskiv who converted for the game winner just 1:08 into the extra period.

Bridgewater State goalie Katie Weber (Arlington, Mass.) made four saves in the game and picked up the loss, while Kenyon made 11 and picked up her fifth win of the season.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they host UMass Dartmouth at 2 p.m., while the Bears travel to Southern Maine on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
