
NEWPORT, R.I. -- Junior Olivia Robarge (Pepperell, Mass.) recorded her first collegiate hat trick to lead the Bridgewater State University women's soccer team to its first win of the season.
Robarge scored three goals in the span of less than 24 minutes in the Bears' 5-1 victory over Salve Regina University Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Field.
BSU improved to 1-1 with the non-conference win while the Seahawks fell to 0-4.
Robarge was second on the team a year ago in goals with six and points with 14. She now has 11 goals in three seasons at BSU.
The Bears took a 1-0 edge at 27:26 when senior Mia Chrisafideis (Marlborough, Mass.) scored on an assist by senior Sydney Dewhurst (East Bridgewater, Mass.).
Robarge began her scoring at 32:00 with senior Alexis Vanderzeyde (Middleboro, Mass.) notching her first assist in a BSU uniform for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Robarge made it 3-0 early in the second half when she was assisted by senior Makenna Lessard (East Bridgewater, Mass.) at 52:07.
Just over two minutes later, Robarge completed her hat trick with an unassisted goal at 55:33 for a 4-0 advantage.
The Bears' final goal came at 65:02 when sophomore Yessica Duran (Gardner, Mass.) potted her first collegiare goal on an assist by freshman Emily Lehane (East Bridgewater, Mass.). The assist marked Lehane's first career point.
Salve Regina's lone goal was registered at 78:43 by senior Abby Hudgins (East Syracuse, N.Y.), assisted by sophomore Olivia Tacconi (Waldwick, N.J.). It was the Seahawks' first tally of the season after three shutout losses.
BSU goalkeeper Logan Levesque (Bristol, R.I.) recorded the win in a return to her home state. She recorded seven stops.
Reagan Moffatt (Denville, N.J.) had three saves for the Seahawks.
The Bears play four straight games at home, beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. against Wheaton College at Mazzaferro Field.
Salve Regina is on the road Wednesday at 7 p.m., facing Gordon College in Wenham.
