Baseball Defeated by Rams

FRAMINGHAM, MA: Rivier baseball lost to Framingham State University today in non-conference play on the road.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/4/23

- Score: Framingham 11, Rivier 6

- Records: Rivier (5-14, 2-2 GNAC), Framingham (9-8)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Raiders were able to put five runs up quickly in the first inning, due to errors and a single to right field from John Canto (Harwich, MA).

- No runs were scored in the second inning. In the third inning, Rams' Ryan Boyle hit a two-run home run to center. Framingham was able to earn another run with a single to left field from Matthew Shaver.

- The Rams continued to string together hits in the fourth inning, with a single from Shane Costello to left field pushing in a run. Boyle hit a sac fly to right, giving Costello enough time to cross the plate for Framingham, which tied the game at 5-5.

- In the fifth inning, three more runs were generated by the Rams. Evan Kirkpatri hit a double and earned 2 RBIs and then Costello with a single and an RBI.

- In the bottom of the sixth inning, another three runs were scored by Framingham, increasing their lead to 11-5. There were two unearned runs, produced by singles. Dane Frellick hit a single to center field, recording an RBI.

- It was a scoreless seventh and eighth innings for both teams. In the top of the ninth inning, Dylan Aliberti (Sandown, NH) hit a sac fly to left causing Jacob Boudreau (Auburn, NH) to score.

- Brendan Ferris (Methuen, MA) was tagged with the loss for the Raiders. Adam Martin collected the win for the Rams, earning 10 strikeouts.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Canto was 1-for-4, with 2 RBIs and 1 run

- Boudreau was 2-for-4, with 1 run

- Zachary White (Long Beach, CA) was 1-for-4, with 1 run

- Rivier baseball will travel to face Lasell University Saturday, April 8th at 10:00 AM & 12:30 PM in conference play.
