Women’s Soccer Doubled Up By Judges

Dawkins turns aside 13 shots for Green and Gold

Waltham, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the Judges of Brandeis University this afternoon in non-conference action from Gordon Field.

The Basics

Score: Fitchburg State 0, Brandeis 2

Records: Fitchburg State (1-1-0, 0-0-0 MASCAC) | Brandeis (1-0-1, 0-0-0 UAA)

How It Happened

Brandeis nearly took the lead midway through the opening frame when sophomore Madison Sansone (Westport, CT) and senior Yasla Ngoma (North Plainfield, NJ) fired back-to-back shots on goal, but Falcons' keeper Madison Dawkins (Haverhill, MA) denied both scoring chances to preserve the 0-0 stalemate going into the break.

Following the intermission, the Judges found the back of net just 1:46 into the second half as senior Sydney Lenhart (Tucson, AZ) settled a corner kick off the foot of Sansone and tucked the ball into the lower left corner for her first tally on the season for the 1-0 edge.

Brandeis doubled the lead to 2-0 in the 66th minute of action with sophomore Elspeth Harker (Saratoga Springs, NY) netting her first score on the 2023 campaign on assists from junior Rachel Walter (Stevenson Ranch, CA) and freshman Zareena Mann (San Ramon, CA).
