Bjorn makes History as Lancers survive close one in Bridgewater

Worcester, Mass. - The Lancers made the trip southeast Saturday afternoon to Bridgewater for a MASCAC showdown with the Bears, with an opportunity to extend their undefeated streak in the conference. A close game in the final minutes eventually went Worcester's way, behind 30 points from Aaron Nkrumah, to keep the Lancers perfect in the MASCAC. 

 

FINAL SCORE: Worcester 75, Bridgewater 72

 

A historic day for graduate center Erik Bjorn (Holden, Mass.) as his successful free throw attempt early in the first half marked his 1,000th point in his career for the Lancers. Worcester State Athletics congratulates Erik Bjorn on this incredible achievement. Bjorn finished the game with nine points and a team best twelve rebounds while shooting three successful field goal attempts out of six and three of out four successful free throws. 

 

Sophomore guard Aaron Nkrumah (Worcester, Mass.), with another impressive performance, recorded a team high 30 points in the game while shooting 13 out of 26 from the field, while Senior guard Zion Hendrix (Charlotte, N.C.) recorded 20 points while going four for five on three pointers. 

 

For Bridgewater, Emerson Halbleib led the way with 25 points and eight rebounds while going ten for twelve on field goal attempts and recording eight rebounds, while Justin Parsons recorded fourteen points and Dante Kikuba, alongside Quinton Champagne, recorded a team best four assists.

 

This brings the Lancers to 16-5 (8-0, MASCAC) on the season, while the Bears go to 16-6 (6-3, MASCAC).
