Volleyball Makes it Seven Wins in a Row

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier women's volleyball team took down two more non-conference opponents today in the Muldoon Center.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/17/22

- Score: Rivier 3, Salve 0: Sets (25-20, 25-23, 25-18), Rivier 3, Westfield 1: Sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-27, 25-13)

- Records: Rivier (7-1), Salve (3-4), Westfield (4-6)

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME ONE

-  The first two sets were a battle between the two squads, but the firepower of the Raiders was too much for the visiting Seahawks. Lily Sills (Carlisle, MA) and Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) led the offense with 23 kills between them. Sills had the most at the end of the match, with 12, and Racevicius had 11. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) fed both of them, racking up 32 assists and eight digs.

- Lauren Hoyle was the go-to offensive weapon for the Seahawks, finishing with ten kills with just four errors for a .300 kill percentage. Katelyn O'Brien dished out 26 assists and nine digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME TWO

- Rivier's offense picked up where it left off despite having some new faces in the mix of play. Racevicius came out swinging in the second match with Westfield, picking up an even 20 kills topping her season best 17 kills. She also racked up an astonishing 25 digs in the match. Brynn Roche (Johnston, RI) and Cadia Greene (N Kingstown, RI) also contributed solid offensive numbers, with Roche finishing with nine kills and Greene with eight. Pollard almost reached 50 assists with 47.

- Ashley Crowley completed the match with seven kills for the Owls, along with teammate Bridgette McAndrews. Julia Dangel-Garcia had 17 assists, while Allie Hill topped her team with 22 digs.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Kills: Rivier 56, Westfield 29

- Assists: Rivier 56, Westfield 27

- Digs: Rivier 82, Westfield 60
