Lancers Drop Double Header to Lyons

South Hadley, MA - The Lancers took on the Mount Holyoke Lyons, in what was initially going to be a tri-match against the Lyons and the Cazenovia College Wildcats. Cazenovia had to call it off, making this a doubleheader between the Lyons and the Lancers. The Lancers were unable to rebound from their three set shutouts and dropped both matches to the Lyons.

MATCH 1: Worcester 0, Mount Holyoke 3 (11-25, 17-25, 20-25)
MATCH 2: Worcester 0, Mount Holyoke 3 (18-25, 12-25, 23-25)

The opening match of the afternoon battled through the first two sets, and picked up play in the third before dropping the final set 20-25. Camryn Burgio led the Lancers with 24 total attacks and 14 digs. Teammates Angela Colonis led her squad with 13 assists. The second match saw Worcester State battling back and forth with 33 kills and 111 total attacks in the first match. They played it close in the first set before ultimately falling 25-18. The second set saw Lyons control the court ultimately closing it out 25-12. The final set of the match was a back and forth battle, while the Lancers held strong they were not ultimately able to rise over Mt. Holyoke falling 25-23. Camryn Burgio led WSU with 25 total attacks. Gabby Alberghini had 20 total attacks. Angela Colonis had led with 15 digs and also had 19 total attacks and 10 assists. Megan Bardis led with 13 assists. Cassandra Millea contributed 14 digs.

Worcester State drops to a 6-20 record on the season, while Mount Holyoke improves to 11-11.

The Blue & Gold are back home for their final two matches of the regular season, with the first one being against Rhode Island College on the 27th at 7pm.
