Lancers shut down Rams

Worcester, Mass. - The Lancers returned home Thursday evening after two games on the road to host Framingham State at Brissette Court in conference action, looking to extend their MASCAC undefeated streak to six. A game filled with intensity and emotion on both ends went Worcester's way as Aaron Nkrumah's 16 points helped secure a dominant win over the Rams.

FINAL SCORE: Worcester 78, Framingham 66

The Lancers were dominant the entire first half, leading by as much as 23 points against the Rams. Sophomore forward Aaron Nkrumah (Worcester, Mass.) led the way with 12 points on five out of seven successful field goals and two out of four three-pointers.

Framingham went on a short run in the final minute as the first half concluded with the Rams cutting down their deficit with a 3-point jump shot from Jaleen Carroll.

Worcester kept its momentum and did not slow down heading into the second half. Two successful free throws from Graduate center Erik Bjorn (Holden, Mass.), followed by a layup from Junior guard Sam Dion (Barre, Mass.) put the Lancers up for their highest lead of the game at 28 points with just under 9 minutes remaining in the half. Framingham wouldn't give up and despite falling short of a comeback, the Rams got a defensive rebound and ended the game with a dunk from Juran Ligonde. Ligonde led the Rams with 20 points and nine rebounds on nine out of eighteen successful field goals and one out of three successful three-pointers.

This night brings the Lancers to a 14-5 (6-0, MASCAC) record on the season and remain undefeated in the conference, while the Rams drop to 4-15 (1-5, MASCAC).
