Price-Espada Explodes for 35 Points in Owls Win

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior guard Angel Price-Espada (Cambridge, Mass./Pope John XIII) blitzed the AmCats for a career-high 35 points to lead the Owls to a 95-72 win over Anna Maria College in a non-conference men's basketball game in Paxton, Mass. on Tuesday evening.
Westfield improves to 5-2 on the season while Anna Maria is now 1-7.
Price-Espada scored 22 of his 35 in the opening 20 minutes to stake the Owls to a 49-41 lead at the half.
Westfield put the defensive clamps on the Cats in the second half, limiting AMC to 28 percent (9 of 32) shooting from the floor and 1-13 (7 percent) from three-point range to pull away for the win.
Espada finished 11-22 shooting from the floor, 4-10 from three-point range, and 9 of 10 at the foul line. He grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists.
Westfield got 15 points each from Lid Moreland (Bridgeport, Conn. / Bunnell ) and Kenney Rogers (Springfield, Mass./Springfield Int. Charter). Rogers added 12 boards, and the Owls Kobe Parker (Chicopee, Mass./Comp) netted eight points and five steals.
Anna Maria was led by 14 points and 10 rebounds from Gabriel Armstead.
Westfield returns home to host Elms College on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
