Falcons Upended By Owls In Conference Action

Westfield, Mass. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to the Owls of Westfield State University this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Amelia Ice Park Arena.

How It Happened

Westfield State opened the scoring midway through the first period as junior Cory Morris (Kahnawake, Que.) collected a feed from freshman Colin Roe (Boston, Mass.) and deposited a shot inside the near post for his second tally on the season for the 1-0 edge.

The Owls doubled its advantage (2-0) with just under three minutes remaining the period when freshman Julian Bosclair (Voorhees, N.J) netted his first collegiate marker off assists from senior Chris Sullivan (Marshfield, Mass.) and junior Cullen Young (Maynard, Mass.).

In the middle frame, the hosts extended the lead at the 4:07 mark with senior Justin Collins (Wilmington, Mass.) receiving a pass from newcomer Cooper Board (Salem, Mass.), who wristed a shot into the left side of the net for his third goal of the 2022-23 campaign to make the score 3-0.

Westfield State secured the victory at the 18:21 mark as Young struck for his first score on the year on the power play with an assist from newcomer Daniel Finegan (Chicago, Ill.), resulting in the 4-0 final.
