Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's soccer team dropped a 5-2 decision to Eastern Connecticut State University in a non-conference match-up at Elliot Field.

How It Happened

East Conn. scored the game's first goal at the 23:14 mark, as sophomore Briley Harnois (Attleboro, Mass.) scored off a direct kick past Falcons netminder Alison Gough (Wolcott, Conn.) for the 1-0 lead.

Junior Patricia Pallotta (Sterling, Mass.) had the best chance for the Falcons in the first half with a free kick that was deflected out of the box by goaltender Emily Wallace (Smithtown, NY).

Trailing 2-0 in the second half, the Falcons tipped the scoreboard. Streaking down the right sideline, sophomore Abaigeal Gilman (Clinton, Mass.) placed a perfect pass to junior Elizabeth Reed (Fitchburg, Mass.), who buried the ball top shelf for her first goal of the season.

The Warriors extended the lead (4-1) in the 65th minute when Harnois completed the hat trick and freshman Katelyn Herbert (Bethpage, NY) converted a penalty kick.

Fitchburg State capped the game with a tally from freshman Adrianna Westcott (Sayreville, NJ), assisted by Pallotta for the 5-2 final.
