FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Framingham State University softball team swept a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader with visiting Bridgewater State University on Friday afternoon at Maple Street Field. Framingham won the first game in five innings, 11-0, and completed the sweep with a 10-6 victory in the nightcap.

The Rams improve to 14-8 on the season and 4-0 in the MASCAC with the sweep, while the Bears fall to 4-20 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Game One: Framingham State 11, Bridgewater State 0

Ally Moran (Wilmington, Mass.) and Olyvia Mendonca (Taunton, Mass.) combined on a one-hit shutout to lead Framingham State to the 11-0 mercy rule win in game one. Moran tossed three no-hit innings as she gave up just a pair of walks and struck out two. Medeiros allowed a hit and two walks in two innings of relief with five strikeouts.

The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on an RBI double by Makayla Rooney (Peabody, Mass.) and RBI single by Talia Duca (Hudson, N.H.).

Angelina Lynch (Taunton, Mass.) belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 4-0.

A two-run single by Duca in the third made it a 6-0 game. One of the two runs was unearned due to a catcher's interference.

A four-run fourth inning capped off by a Gwendolyn Carpenter (Ashley Falls, Mass.) two-run blast put the Rams comfortably ahead, 10-0. An RBI double by pinch hitter Alyssa Hunt (Goffstown, N.H.) in the bottom of the fourth accounted for the final score of 11-0.

Rooney went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, two runs and two RBI to pace the Rams' 11-hit attack, while Duca was 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs batted in.

Moran picked up the win in relief in game two as the Rams completed the sweep with the 10-6 victory. Moran (10-3) tossed 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief allowing just a pair of singles while striking out six.

Bridgewater opened the scoring in the top of the first inning on back-to-back doubles by Molly Thibaudeau (Lincoln, R.I.) and Janet Jolly (Raynham, Mass.).

Framingham answered with a six-run bottom of the first. The Rams rapped four hits in the frame and capitalized on three walks. Carpenter put the hosts on top with a two-run single, while Kelsey McGuill (East Longmeadow, Mass.) walked with the bases loaded and Keely Scotia (Charlton, Mass.) connected for a two-run double. A run also scored on a wild pitch.

Thibaudeau crushed a solo home run over the centerfield fence in the top of the third to cut the BSU deficit to 7-2. The home run marked the first of the season for the Bears and the first of Thibaudeau's career.

Brooke Grassia (Danvers, Mass.) doubled home a run and came around to score on a Camille Desrochers (Westford, Mass.) RBI single to make it a 9-2 game.

A bases clearing three-run double by Thibaudeau highlighted a four-run top of the fourth inning as the Bears closed the gap to 9-6. Thibaudeau also scored in the inning on an RBI single by Jolly.

McGuill belted an opposite field home run over the left field fence to round out the scoring in the bottom of the sixth.
