Women's Soccer And Buccaneers Draw Even In Conference Tilt

Fitzgerald notches game tying goal for Green and Gold

Buzzards Bay, MA – The Fitchburg State women's soccer team and the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime Academy played to a 1-1 draw in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this evening from Clean Harbors Stadium.

How It Happened

Mass. Maritime grabbed the 1-0 edge at the 30:33 mark of the first half as freshman Shannon Brecher (East Greenwich, RI) deposited a shot into the left side of the net for her first collegiate tally.

Following the intermission, Fitchburg State knotted the score at 1-1 in the 72nd minute of action when newcomer Delia Fitzgerald (Foxboro, MA) collected a feed from sophomore Charlotte Meixsell (Boxford, MA) and found the back of the net for her second score of the season.

The Falcons nearly took the lead with two minutes remaining in regulation with sophomore Zoe Chrisostomides (Scotch Plains, NJ) putting a pair of shots on frame, but Buccaneers keeper Reagan Kerecz (Tolland, CT) turned the shots aside, resulting in the 1-1 draw.
