Men's Soccer Falls to MIT on Senior Day

WORCESTER, Mass.- The Worcester State University men's soccer team lost 3-0 in non-conference play against opponent MIT, on Wednesday evening at John F. Coughlin Memorial Field. Worcester State honored it's lone senior, Ethan Paiva (Dartmouth, Mass.) prior to the game.

With the loss the Lancers fall to 3-6-1 on the season. The Engineers improve to 9-5 overall.

The Lancers struggled in the first half to control the ball. The Engineers posted two goals in the first 45 minutes, both coming from Garrett Robinson (Winfield, Ill.). Robinson's second shot went into the lower left hand side of the net off of a cross from Rami Bikdash (Oak Ridge, N.C.).

MIT kept control in the second half and put up four goals in the half. Three goals came in the first ten minutes. Garrett Gordon (The Woodlands, Texas), Sebastian Simon (Detroit, Mich.), and James Simon (Ann Arbor, Mich.) each put up one of the first three. Worcester State's best opportunity to get on the board came from Alfredo Alvarez (Romulus, Mich.) but unfortunately wasn't able to get it past the MIT goalkeeper. Kaleb Blake (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored the final goal for the Engineers.

Dylan Ruberti (Westborough, Mass.) and Christian Packard (Windsor Locks, Conn.) split time in net recording eight saves and one save respectively. Zak Zhang (Bellevue, Wash.) didn't record any saves in the game.

The Lancers return to action Saturday when they head to Framingham State. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m.
