Men's Basketball Slipped Up by Baruch

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Worcester State University men's basketball team fell short to Baruch College 77-60 Monday evening in a non-conference contest at ARC Arena.

With the loss, Worcester State drops to 8-10 overall on the season.

Freshman Sam Dion (Barre, Mass.) was Worcester State's leading scorer on the evening, recording a season best 19 points. The rookie had 15 of his 19 points before the break, but the Lancers still trailed 42-32 heading into the locker room.

The Bearcats opened the second half on a 10-1 run to take a 52-33 lead and never looked back. Zion Hendrix (Charlotte, N.C.) and Joe Desormier (Granby, Mass.) each scored seven second half points for the Lancers, but it proved too little, too late as Baruch closed out the win.

Sophomore Tyler Spencer (Pembroke, Mass.) finished the contest just shy of double figures with nine points, while junior Otis Wheeler Jr. (Worcester, Mass.) and sophomore Corey Olivier (Maynard, Mass.) each finished with eight points.

Next up for Worcester State, they will return to MASCAC action with a contest against Bridgewater State on Wednesday evening at John P. Brissette Court.
