Rams Hand Vikings 3-0 Loss

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Framingham State cruised past Salem State 3-0 in MASCAC volleyball action on Tuesday evening at Logan Gymnasium. The Rams raise their record to 13-9 and 3-1 in conference while the Vikings dip to 4-11 and 1-3.

Eva Haralabatos led Salem State with 13 assists, eight digs and three kills. Charlotte Orth had four kills and four digs for the Vikings. Anna Szymanski topped Framingham State with eight kills and six digs. Stella Bailey compiled seven digs and 16 assists while Malia Shields - seven aces, nine digs and Emily Flaherty - seven aces, five digs contributed to the win.

The Rams hit .308 in a 25-18 set one win. The two teams played to a 14-14 draw before a 6-1 spurt by the Rams, highlighted by back-to-back-aces from Shields gave Framingham State some breathing room. The lead remained at five points until conscutive errors by Salem State gave Framingham the set.

The Rams raced out to a 14-5 lead in set two as Salem State hit a disappointing -.467, committing nine errors. Three aces by Flaherty pushed the lead to 19-7 before three straight aces by Shields and an attack error gave Framingham State a 25-8 win. The Rams pulled away for a 25-14 victory in set three. Leading 12-11, the Rams went on a 9-1 run while Flaherty and Shields were serving. Two kills from Kiana Jones pushed the match to the brink before a service error by the Vikings gave the set to Framingham State.
