Lancers Claim the WIn over Fredonia on Spring Break Opener

Worcester, MA- After a thrilling win last Thursday, the Worcester State Women's Lacrosse team (4-2, 0-0) flew down to Puerto Rico to take on Fredonia in their first Spring Break game of the trip.

Worcester State would come out strong in the first recording six goals to open up the action off a seniorAbbie Wing (Griswold, CT) dish in from the hands of junior Shannon Donahue (Dennis, MA). Sophomore Kerry Brown (Billerica, MA) would add to the scoring off an assist from Donahue twice after that before senior Ashley Hurley (Feeding Hills, MA) would go it alone for goal number four. Wing would return to the post goal stick check, this time off a pass from junior Mykayla Fisher (Peabody, MA) who wrapped up the quarter with a pass and score to junior Abigail Vincent (Lakeville, MA).

The second would see a slight slow down in action as senior Hannah Erickson (Dunstable, MA), from junior Molly Witkowski (Greenville, NY), would record goal seven before the Brown Donahue duo grabbed goal eight. Brown would then receive ome from Witkowski for number nine as Vincent closed out the first half scoring.

The third found an slew of solo scores as Witkowski, Hurley and Fisher went one to three to push the Lancer score to 13. Erickson would then partner with Witkowski and Vincent for passes for goals number 14 and 15. The final quarter would again see the solo endeavours as Erickson, Vincent and Brown would go it alone, while Vinent and Fisher would grabs goal and assists combos alongside side Erickson and Witkowski to wrap up Worcester's scoring craze. 

Senior Olivia LaValle (Peabody, MA) would end the meeting with seven saves and a ground ball in the win.

Worcester State Lacrosse (5-2, 0-0) are bck in action tomorrow at 9:30am to face off against Smith in an early morning Puerto Rico meeting.
