Westfield Men Run Past Bridgewater, 104-91
Jauch Green Jr. (Cromwell HS/Hartford, Conn.) had tallied a double-double to lead Westfield State to a 104 to 91 victory over Bridgewater State on Saturday afternoon at the Woodward Center.
Westfield improves to 11-10 on the season and 4-4 in conference play. Bridgewater State falls to 6-14 on the year and 4-4 in conference play.
The Owls shot 63% from the field in the first half as Westfield built 51-42 lead at the break.
Around the 12 minute mark the Owls went on a 6-0 run to pull ahead 26-19 and never trailed from that point forward.
Westfield finished with six players in double figures, as Green led the way with 32 points and 10 rebounds. Vawn Lord ( West Springfield/Amherst, Mass.) had his best game as an Owls with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Marcus Collins (Rindge and Latin/Cambridge, Mass.) added 22 points and seven rebounds.
Bridgewater was led by 28 points from Ryan Carney (Oliver Ames/Easton, Mass.), who shot 12-24 from the floor. Admar Jaramillo (Cardinal Spellman/Brockton, Mass.) finished with 16 and Nick Crocker (Falmouth/East Falmouth, Mass.) added 12 points and six rebounds for the Bears.
Westfield got a majority of their points inside as they scored 64 points in the paint for the game.
Westfield will host Framingham State in a MASCAC game on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., while Bridgewater will travel to Salem State on Wednesday.
