Rams Pull Away Early, Win 105-65 Over Salem State

BOSTON -- Josiah Green led Salem State with 28 points on 8-of-16 (50.0%) shooting, including 8-of-13 (61.5%) from three-point range, but Suffolk built a 48-30 halftime lead to coast to 105-65 victory over the Vikings at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court on Saturday afternoon. Salem State is now 0-2 to begin the year. The Rams open the season 1-0.

Suffolk shot 20-of-38 (52.6%) from the floor in the first in building an 18-point halftime advantage. Keenan Robertson led the Rams with 16 first half points while Cole LeVangie chipped in with 10. The game was tied 19-19 before the Rams held Salem State to just one field goal for almost three minutes while outscoring the Vikings 29-11 over the final 9:12 of the half. Green scored 18 of Salem State's points as the rest of the starting lineup went 0-for-6 (0.00%) from the field.

Salem State continued to struggle offensively in the second half, going just 4-of-14 (28.6%) from behind the arc. The Vikings could not contain Robertson, who added 14 points after halftime to finish with 30 points and nine boards for the game. A Connor Byrne dunk made it 57-43 with 15:49 left in the second, but Suffolk responded with a 12-0 run, punctuated with a layup from William Rowe, giving the Rams a 69-43 lead with 11:49 left. A layup by Robertson pushed the lead to 30, 83-53 as Suffolk coasted to an easy 40-point victory.

Cole LeVangie had 15 points and seven rebounds for Suffolk while Aidan Sullivan added eight assists. Jaden Castillo was the only other player in double figures for the Vikings with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
