Bostick Leads Women's Hoops to 86-57 MASCAC Win over MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Senior guard Nicole Bostick (East Taunton, Mass.) scored a career-high 32 points and tied the school single-game record for three-pointers to lead the visiting Bridgewater State University women's basketball team to an 86-57 victory over MCLA in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon at the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium.

The Bears improve to 8-12 on the season and 4-3 in the MASCAC, while the host Trailblazers fall to 2-16 overall and 0-7 in conference play. Bridgewater is now 72-8 all-time versus MCLA dating back to the 1983-1984 campaign. The Bears have also won each of the last 20 meetings between the two teams.

Bostick connected on 11 of 21 field goal attempts including 9-for-17 from behind the arc as she tied the Bears' single-game three-point mark set by Brittney Chappron in 2011 (Feb. 19 vs. MCLA) and equaled by Sara DaSilva in 2017 (Feb. 15 vs. Westfield). Bostick also pulled down five rebounds.

Junior center Destiny Fitzgerald (Medford, Mass.) added 13 points and a game-high ten rebounds (six offensive) for the Bears to go along with two assists, three steals and a pair of blocked shots. The double-double marked Fitzgerald's team-leading fifth of the season.

BSU Freshman guard Kylee Piché (Bridgewater, Mass.) checked in with 12 points, seven rebounds (three offensive), two assists and a steal.

Senior guard Kylah Langston (East Hartford, Conn.) paced MCLA with 20 points and three steals, while freshman forward Hannah Mazzeo (Averill Park, N.Y.) contributed ten points and seven rebounds (three offensive) for the hosts.

Bridgewater led 41-27 at the break and maintained a double-double advantage throughout the second half. The final score of 86-57 also marked the Bears' biggest lead of the game.

The Bears shot 46% (32-70) for the game, knocked down a season-high 14 three-pointers (14-33) and went 8-for-12 (67%) at the free throw line. The Trailblazers connected on 31% (18-59) of their field goal attempts and finished 2-for-15 (13%) from behind the arc and 19-for-26 (73%) at the charity stripe.

Bridgewater finished with a 50-33 rebounding advantage.

The MASCAC schedule continues for both teams next Wednesday evening at 5:30. The Bears entertain the Vikings of Salem State University, while the Trailblazers travel to Fitchburg State University to take on the Falcons.

Notes: Bostick's second three-pointer of the afternoon marked the 100th of her career.
