Women's Soccer Blanks Mass. Maritime, 10-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Eight different players scored as the Bridgewater State College women's soccer team defeated Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference foe Mass. Maritime Academy, 10-0, in the regular season finale for both teams.

The host Bears improve to 8-7-2 on the season and 3-3-1 in conference play.  The win, coupled with a Salem State loss to Worcester State, gives BSC the fourth seed in next week's MASCAC Tournament.  Bridgewater will take on top seed Westfield State on Wednesday in the tournament semifinals.  Mass. Maritime ends the 2009 season with an overall record of 0-16 (0-7 MASCAC).

Seniors Jacklyn Wisocky (Brockton, MA) and Ashley Hersey (Newburyport, MA) each scored two goals for the Bears, while fellow senior Christine Soucy (Rockland, MA) added a goal and an assist.  All three, along with teammate Yasmina Carvalho (Brockton, MA), were honored at halftime as part of the Senior Day festivities. 

Sophomore forward Jordan McDermott (East Bridgewater, MA) and junior midfielder Amanda Vigneault (Ludlow, MA) also filled the stat sheet as they each finished with a goal and two assists.

BSC junior goaltender Kayla Grover (Haverhill, MA) recorded her fourth shutout of the season for the Bears who outshot the Buccaneers, 27-0.

Freshman netminder Rachel Johnson (South Chatham, MA) recorded four saves between the pipes for Mass. Maritime.
