Softball Sweeps MCLA In MASCAC Doubleheader

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Senior Allie LeBlanc (Somerset, MA) went 6-for-7 with five runs and three RBI to lead the Bridgewater State College Bears to a doubleheader sweep of MCLA in MASCAC softball action this afternoon in North Adams.

The Bears won the first game by a score of 10-1 in six innings, and completed the sweep with an 11-0 shutout victory in game two.

Bridgewater improves to 21-9 on the season and 8-2 in the MASCAC.  The Bears can earn a share of the MASCAC regular season title with a sweep of Worcester State on Saturday.  MCLA falls to 9-17 overall and 3-7 in conference play. 

LeBlanc was 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored in game one of the twinbill. BSC plated all ten of their runs in the top of the sixth as LeBlanc had an RBI single in the inning as well as a two-run double.

Senior Alyssa Verronneau (Acushnet, MA) picked up the win in the circle as she allowed just one run on four hits.  Verronneau (9-4) walked just one and struck out six.

Sophomore Penny King (Hanover, MA) finished 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI.

In game two, LeBlanc had three hits in three at bats.  She was also hit by a pitch, stole two bases and scored four runs.

Junior Jamie Ducinski (Duxbury, MA) tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout in the circle for Bridgewater.  Ducinski (5-1) walked one and struck out three.

Senior Rachel Sprague (Duxbury, MA) went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, while freshman Michaela Ferreira (Fall River, MA) was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI in game two.
