Final
Worcester State: 76
Framingham State: 67
How it Happened:
The Lancers started off strong versus the Rams in their regular season closer. Each team traded baskets early with Framingham holding a slight edge over Worcester for much of the first quarter until a senior Abby St. Martin (Putnam, CT) jumper would grab the lead for the Lancers briefly in the first. The second quarter is where Worcester really began to find their groove on offense as back to back three-pointers by senior Katie Hurynowicz (Tyngsboro, MA) would push Worcester into control of the game for the remainder of the first half. The Blue and Gold would carry a 12 point lead at 37-25.
The second half would find the Rams working to build their way back into the game and slow down the Lancer surge. Framingham would find minimal success early in the third quarter as St.Martin would extend the Lancers' lead to 10 points with a layup and then quickly answer a 3-pointer by Kiara Cerruti with another two points to quickly halt the Rams' momentum. Hurynowicz would put an exclamation mark on the third period with a 3-pointer to extend the Lancers' lead to 54-47. The Rams would open the fourth quarter by cutting the deficit to 58-57 with a 3-pointer by Faith Greene. Despite this, sophomore Hannah Lomonaco (Northbridge, MA) would answer right back with a 3 of her own. The Lancers would remain in the lead the entire quarter with shots from Hurynowicz and sophomore Lena Waldron (Quincy, MA) to help seal the victory at 76-67.
Hurynowicz would lead the night for the Lancers with 18 points while sophomore Mia Haynes (Worcester, MA) would claim the board victory with 10.
