WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester State University women's basketball team secured a 70-43 win over MCLA Wednesday evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference at John P. Brissette Court.

With the win, Worcester State improves to 10-6 overall on the season and 2-2 in MASCAC play. MCLA drops to 2-13 overall and 0-5 in the MASCAC.

In the second quarter, the Lancers continued to pull away, taking a 32-13 lead into the locker room. Worcester State shot 53 percent from the floor and 50 percent from beyond the arc in the quarter to extend the lead. Blomgren led all players heading to the break with eight points, while Jasmine Pszczola led the Trailblazers with five points.

Worcester State didn't slow down after the break, outscoring MCLA 23-16 to put the contest even further out of reach. Starters Blomgren, Mya Mosley (Worcester, Mass.) and Erin Gallella (Tewksbury, Mass.) combined to shoot 6-for-6 for 15 points in the quarter.

The hosts grabbed their biggest lead of the contest at 31 points early in the fourth quarter before cruising to the victory. Ten of Worcester State's 15 fourth quarter points came from the bench, with Sam Ellis (Grafton, Mass.) and Elizabeth Gallella (Tewksbury, Mass.) each knocking down triples.

Blomgren was the game's leading scorer on the night, putting in 14 points in the win. MCLA's Kylah Langston netted 13 points, while Mosley recorded 12 of her own.
