Falcons Race Past Lynx
Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State Women's Basketball team downed the Lynx of Lesley University 60-55 on Saturday afternoon at Parkinson Gymnasium.

How It Happened
1st Quarter
Knotted at 5-5 the Falcon knocked down a pair of buckets from sophomore Stephanie Hart (Shirley, Mass.) to take a 9-5 advantage. The visitors countered with six unanswered points capped with a jumper from Savannah Stowers (Waller, TX) to make it an 11-9 game. Sophomore Rylie Harlow (Hanson, Mass.) hit a jumper for the Falcons to even the game (11-11) and the Green and Gold closed out the frame with a 9-4 run including five pints from Morgan Genness (Belgrade, Maine).
2nd Quarter
The Falcons upped its lead (31-24) on five points from Ephemian Bailey (Maple Grove, Minn.) and a layup from Genness. The Lynx chipped the deficit to 33-29 going into the break with a 5-2 run. Sophomore Annika Herbert (Wildwood, MD) had three points from the free-throw line in the streak.
3rd Quarter
Following intermission, the Lynx made a 2-point game with a pair from the charity stripe from Herbert. However, the Falcons added a baseline jumper and a layup from newcomer Juliana Davis (Templeton, Mass) to extend the lead (37-31). Rookie Aliza Som (Lowell, Mass.) drained a trey off a feed from Genness as the Falcons held a 45-37 lead after three quarters.
4th Quarter
Fitchburg State raced out to their largest lead of the game (51-37) with a layup from Bailey and four points from Caileen Hurley (Whitman, Mass.). Lesley would run off five straight, before a bucket from Bailey and a deep three-pointer from Harlow settled the Falcons down (56-44). The visitors battled back with a 9-0 run, but Som hit two clutch free throws for the Falcons to seal the victory.

- Bailey paced the Falcons with 12 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and three blocks. Genness finished with 10 points, seven boards, 5 assists, 5 steals, and a block.
- For Lesley, Herbert led the way with a game-high 20 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, and 5 assists. Niles chipped in with 10 points off the bench.
- The Lynx shot 17-for-61 (27.9%) from the field and (3-for-12) 25% from three-point range
- Fitchburg State finished 23-for-66 (34.8%) overall and (6-for-17) 35.3% for beyond the arc
