Lancers Hit Triple Digits in Win over the Moose in Maine

Worcester, MA- after a near comeback yesterday morning over Colby College, Worcester State Men's Basketball (1-2,0-0) was back on the court in the tip-off classic to take on the University of Maine- Augusta is a Sunday morning matchup. Augusta faced Farmington yesterday morning in their opening round before making the trip to Colby to meet Worcester State on day two of the tournament.

How it Happened:

 

Worcester State jumped out to an early 10-3 lead to get the action started as Junior Ayme Daguilh (West Boylston, MA) would continue his success from yesterday with an opening three pointer. Senior Brandon Goris (Bronx, NY), sophomore Jaylen Kirkland (Gardner,MA) and Camdyn Shoesmith would all join in on the action in the first to help push up the Lancer's advantage. The Moose would spend the remainder of the half chipping away at the lead. Worcester State would go on a late half spree claiming a 19 point lead before halftime, taking a 44-25 lead into the break. Kirkland would win the half with 12 points just two ahead of Daguilh in the action.

 

The second half would continue to see more of the same for Worcester as they continued to keep scoring pace, as they pushed their lead to 27 as they charged to the final horn looking for their second win of the season. By the final buzzer, Worcester had spent a majority of the second half pulling in the rebounds and the points, expanding their lead to 33 before ending the game breaking 100 points to grab the 104-66 victory. Kirkland would continue to have a lights out second half, recording 21 points in the game and three rebounds, while Goris would record 17 points and six rebounds. 

 

Worcester would go for 51.3% on the floor and up their odds from behind the arc with a 56% shooting percentage.

Worcester State (2-2, 0-0) are back in action on Tuesday when they host Western New England at 7pm on Brissette Court.
