Worcester, MA- Back in action after a thrilling victory in the final minutes of the third period late last night, the Worcester State Women's Ice Hockey team (5-4, 4-1) made a quick turnaround of it today as they journeyed to Castelton to take on the Spartans in an afternoon meeting.
Final
Worcester State: 2
Castelton: 6
How it Happened:
Coming off the intensity of yesterday's win and an early morning ride to Castleton, the Lancers took some time warming up on the ice which allowed Castleton to score five unanswered goals over the first two periods. Worcester would find their rhythm in the third as graduate student Amy MacGlashing (Marlborough, MA)would rocket a shot on the power play off the quick passes of sophomores Madelyn Franta (Superior, WI) and Fiona Hatton (Homer, AK). First year Emily Johns (Clinton, MA) would add a second for Worcester off a dish from sophomore Olivia Fehl (Sergeant Bluff, IA) to make it just a three goal contest. Just as Worcester was setting themselves up for a last two minute push, Castleton was able to send across goal number five to claim the 6-2 final.
Sophomore Lana Pacific would wrap up the day with 34 saves while first year Maverick Margraf would step in for the third, making 15 saves during the action.
What's Next:
The Lancers (5-5, 4-1) will have four weeks off for the holiday break before facing off with future MASCAC member Salem State on January 4th at 2pm on the road in Vikings territory.
