How it Happened:
Tonight's matchup between Worcester State and MCLA strategic play seemed to be the theme of the match. With both teams playing good offense throughout the first period, keeping constant pressure in each of their zones, it made it tough for both teams to gain an edge. Fortunately enough sophomore Cailey Ryan (Acton, MA) from Worcester was able to score the first goal of the night off a face off, putting the puck on top left corner to give the Blue and Gold the lead at 1-0 going into the second period.
The Lancers played a stellar second period as they dominated the Trailblazers. Worecscter came out swinging as they were able to put up another goal early into the period, this time off of junior Lea Gaspar (Chelmsford, MA). This gave the Blue and Gold momentum, leading into the rest of the period the Lancers spent their time in MCLA's zone putting up great shots and applying pressure. They were only able to find payday once in the period though, Worcester state leads going into the final period 2-0.
Worcester would dd goal number three in the third off an attempt from sophomore Kelly Lovett (Peabody, MA) to jump to the 3-0 lead for Worcester. Sophomore Lana Pacific (Marlborough, MA) would close the night with 25 saves in the win.
